Battle at Cannae

The Battle of Cannae was a major battle of the Second Punic War that took place on August 2, 216 BC. The Carthaginian army, under the command of Hannibal, defeated a much larger Roman army, resulting in one of the worst defeats in Roman history. The battle is known for Hannibal's successful use of the double envelopment tactic, which allowed him to surround and destroy the Roman army
