The siege of Alesia
The Siege of Alesia was a military engagement that took place in 52 BC between the Roman Republic and several Gallic tribes. The battle was fought around the Gallic oppidum (fortified settlement) of Alesia, located in modern-day France. The Roman forces, led by Julius Caesar ultimately emerged victorious, marking a significant turning point in the Gallic.
